Q&A

Are there any issues with the site you're aware of, or think we should be aware of?
The site doesn't always update immediately - especially on mobile for some reason. This seems to be a neocities issue, and out of my control. It's a cookies/cache issue, so you can fix it by typing CTRL + F5, or opening tabs in incognito.
Has this site really been going since your oldest articles?Nope! I began as a writer on Backloggd, and ported my entire catalog of writing from there - dating between 2021 to 2026. You will occasionally see me refer to "this site" or other meta-humour - which is of course all aimed at the logging site. Anything written after this site was created was made with this place in mind first, though.
Is making a site like this difficult?
I waaaaanna say no. Getting it as clean as it is (as of now, July 2026) took a few months. but I'm also consistently ambitious, have absolutely no background in code, and had to ask a lot of questions. Getting a website up that I could upload blogs cleanly to took thirty minutes, decorating it with bad ideas took months.
How much javascript or HTML do I have to learn to make a site like this?
None. Though you will need to like, look at the code. Don't be afraid of it - most of the stuff Zonelets comes packaged with is labeled. A very basic amount of reading self-explanatory labels will give you enough material to copy and paste the rest of the website out of. I also used HTML5-editor to dump all of my old reviews into without knowing how to format every idea - then learned to copy off the basic formatting, and did parts by hand after.
This site uses Neocities Supporter ($5 USD a month). How many features were locked behind that, and how much can I do for free?
The stuff on this site that really matters is free. Hosting words is free, and you will never run out of space for words alone.
Image hosting will stack up on file-size, and videos cannot be natively hosted on the site itself without Supporter - but you can host externally to sites like Catbox.moe, and then embed those onto pages from there. Supporter also enables changing your domain name - which isn't enough to get a new domain name; You'll need to host one of those somewhere else, too.
Lastly, some javascript reading is disabled by free Neocities. The tables are all CSS, and the navboxes work, so those are fine. The only code on my site that required Supporter to run is the Bluesky commentbox, which I guess is pulling too much externally - thus scaring Neocities (which is alive??)

Credits

Several Zonelets mods on my site - both the re-implementation of a tagging system, and the "Related Posts" Navboxes. Shoutouts to my wonderful friend, Ryoma, for coding it all for me by hand. They have chosen to publicly host these resources on their Github page.
My comments sections are from bsky-comments on github
My URL was bought from Namecheap.com

By the way - and even if we don't know eachother - feel free to DM me on bluesky if you want to borrow any code my site uses. Most of it is stolen from Ryoma, or grabbed from the top results when i searched HTML guide sites. But I am 100% locked in to helping the blogging scene, and want to help ppl beat their executive dysfunction.
